Driver Privacy Notice | Urban Priority
This Driver Privacy Notice explains how Urban Priority Ltd collects, stores, protects, uses and shares personal data for driver applicants and approved drivers.
Urban Priority Ltd is the controller for driver applicant and driver data used for onboarding, compliance, platform access, courier operations, support and payment/earnings records. Driver privacy questions can be sent to drivers@urbanpriority.co.uk.
1) Data we collect
• Account details such as name, email address, phone number, login details, support messages and admin notes relating to your driver account.
• Onboarding and compliance details such as address/contact details, vehicle type, vehicle registration, insurance, MOT status or exemption details, right-to-work information, basic DBS certificate information where requested, profile photo and uploaded documents.
• Operational data such as online/offline status, precise location while online or handling work, route/job events, pickup/drop-off status, proof of delivery, customer communications, notifications, device information and support history.
• Payment and finance information needed to calculate driver earnings, adjustments, payout records, payment queries and payment disputes.
2) Why we use driver data
• To review driver applications, complete onboarding, check compliance, provide platform access and support safe courier operations.
• To dispatch jobs, support live tracking, protect direct/priority service promises, confirm pickup/drop-off events and handle customer, recipient or driver support issues.
• To calculate earnings, keep finance records, investigate disputes, prevent fraud, comply with law and protect Urban Priority, customers, recipients and drivers.
3) Where driver data is stored
Driver account, onboarding, compliance, document and operational data is stored in Urban Priority’s secured backend and database systems. Uploaded driver documents, including basic DBS certificate uploads where requested, profile photos, insurance/MOT evidence and identity/right-to-work uploads, may be stored using Cloudinary or another trusted cloud file-storage provider used by Urban Priority.
Uploaded driver documents are not intended to be publicly available on the website. Access is intended to be limited to authorised Urban Priority admin users and service providers who need access for onboarding, compliance, support, platform operations, security, finance or legal reasons.
Some information may also be stored in operational records such as support messages, admin review notes, audit logs, payment records, delivery records, backups and security logs where needed to run the service, protect the platform, resolve disputes or meet legal/compliance duties.
4) How driver data is protected
• Connections to the app, website and backend are protected using HTTPS/TLS where the service is accessed online.
• Driver passwords are not intended to be stored in plain text.
• Access to driver information is restricted to authorised Urban Priority admin users and service providers who need access for onboarding, compliance, support, platform operations, security, finance or legal reasons.
• Admin access, document handling and operational systems should only be used for legitimate Urban Priority business purposes.
• Driver document uploads are stored through controlled backend/cloud-storage systems rather than being published on the website.
• We use trusted service providers for hosting, storage, payment, mapping, messaging and platform operations, and we rely on their managed security controls alongside Urban Priority access controls.
No online platform can guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a personal data incident that creates a risk to drivers, we will take appropriate steps in line with applicable law.
5) Location data
Precise location is used while a driver is online and/or handling work so dispatch, live tracking, active job support and safety follow-up can work. Location data is not intended to be used to track drivers when they are not online or not actively using the driver service, except where technical logs or security records are reasonably needed. More detail is available on the Driver Location Use page.
6) Sharing and third parties
We do not sell driver data. When this notice refers to third parties, it means organisations needed to operate, protect or legally support the driver platform.
We may share driver data with customers/recipients where needed for a delivery, backend/cloud hosting providers, database providers, Cloudinary or other file-storage providers, payment and payout providers, mapping/location/navigation providers, notification/email/SMS providers, support/compliance providers, analytics/diagnostics providers, insurers, legal advisers, auditors, regulators, police, courts or public authorities where required or reasonably appropriate.
We only share the data that is reasonably needed for the relevant purpose, such as completing a delivery, processing payments, checking compliance, protecting the platform, resolving a dispute, meeting legal duties or supporting drivers.
7) International processing
Some technology providers may process or store data outside the United Kingdom or European Economic Area. Where this happens, we rely on appropriate provider terms, safeguards or legal mechanisms required for that processing.
8) Retention
We keep driver data only for as long as reasonably necessary for operational, legal, tax, safety, audit, fraud-prevention, dispute and compliance reasons. Some finance, delivery, safety, compliance, audit or legal records may be retained after account closure where required or justified.
9) Your rights
You may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection or data portability, subject to legal exceptions. To ask about your data, contact drivers@urbanpriority.co.uk.
If you are not satisfied with how your data question is handled, you may also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office.
10) Updates to this notice
We may update this Driver Privacy Notice as the Urban Priority platform, driver onboarding process or legal requirements change. The latest version will be published on this page.
